Account Creation: Detailed Explanation
Start Rx-Writer on iPad
To get started using Rx-Writer, launch the application by tapping the Rx-Writer icon wherever you may have installed it. Finding the Rx-Writer application icon may be somewhat challenging because the iPad operating system seems to install new applications somewhat randomly. You may have to look through all of your application pages for the blue Rx icon.
We suggest that you touch and hold the icon until all icons begin to shake then drag the icon to application bar on the bottom of the screen so it will always be easy for you to find. Once the Rx-Writer is where you want, press the home button below the iPad's screen on the front surface of the iPad to stop shaking icons and return to normal mode.
Write down your login and password!
At the login screen you are going to create a new account entering your user name and password. We suggest you pick a user name and a password that you will remember.
Write down your password and username and store them in a secure place.
If you forget your password, we are unable recover or reset your password for you.
To ensure your security, NovusRx does not have access to your encrypted data unless you specifically choose to share data. If you forget your password, you may lose your data and be locked out of your Rx-Writer account.
We have built in very strong encryption technology to both comply with HIPAA and to provide the greatest level of patient data security that we could. It is important that you remember your user name and password. Access to your patient data depends on it.

1/6 - Login & Create New Account
When you have entered your user name and password select New User and Rx-Writer will create a new account for you. Fill out the form with your email address and password.
You need to confirm that you have read and agree to the End User License Agreement (EULA) and our Disclaimer Agreement. The end user license agreement and disclaimer are unfortunately standard. You may review EULA and Disclaimer in depth at any time by visiting our web site [link to eula and disclaimer].
2/6 - Prescriber Information
Will appear on your faxed and emailed prescriptions giving them a traditional professional appearance. You can edit any of this information later in preferences > prescriber information tab, inside of Rx-Writer. This section also contains the DEA, ME, NPI numbers along with the digital signature all of which can be edited at anytime.
3/6 - Practice Information
Will also appear on your prescriptions, again continuing the traditional professional appearance. This window contains the fax number, email address, physical address, and main phone number. The fax number and email address entered here will be the ones we send to if you check the Office Option in the Med List. Contains the settings for displaying patient age and settings for submitting Rx copies.
5/6 - Additional Information
D.E.A. # (not required), M.E. # (AMA Medical Education # - not required), N.P.I. # (not required). The information entered here will pre-populate appropriate sections of Rx-Writer Preferences and the prescriptions that you transmit to pharmacies and/or print in your office. These options can be toggled on and off at any time within the preferences - prescriber information.
Now you have successfully registered and can use the Rx-Writer application. If you would like to expand to the full version please visit our store to subscribe now.
Patient List
The Patient Screen is one of the main screens you will use in Rx-Writer. Let's discuss navigation in this screen and the application. At the top of the screen we have the title bar with Patient List in the center of the screen with your Practice information centered right below. There is a button in the upper left of this screen that will take you to Preferences. Preferences is where we can edit any of the information we entered in New Account Creation and some additional Preferences we will see later.
Since we just completed the Account Creation Screen you will be at a blank/empty patient screen. You can add patients very quickly in Rx-Writer, or you may choose to have a staff member enter all your patients for the next day to enhance your productivity. (As of October 2010 we do not yet have the ability to import patients, but that is a planned enhancement).

Your Signature
We have created a way to capture your signature within Rx-Writer placing your signature on every faxed and emailed prescription. Use your finger to write your name inside the box. You may want to select clear until you are happy with your signature. I find it easier to turn my iPad horizontally when entering my signature.
After you are satisfied with your signature, press save in the upper right portion of your screen. You will then be back to Account Creation to complete the process. If you ever need to modify your signature or any any account information, you may do so in Rx-Writer Preferences.
